How to install HUGO

HUGO is a static site generator that is compatible on Windows, Mac, Linux and more. It’s written in Go, but you don’t need to install Go to be able to use HUGO.

There is a ton of options on how to install HUGO on your machine, and it’s all explained in the official docs. The latest releases of the software can be downloaded from this Git repository: https://github.com/gohugoio/hugo/releases

I used Homebrew to be able to install HUGO on my Mac. It’s a very straight forward operation. You can see a tutorial here:

For my laptop running Windows 10 I had to choose the less-technical method since I could not get the CLI approach to work. Giraffe Academy also have a great tutorial for Windows users:
